New Year’s Resolutions – Simplified
At the stroke of midnight January 1st, I am prepared to put into place my stealth like, meticulously thought out, scientifically proven plan to make the next 12 months the best ever. Each step in my plan is geared towards my being bigger (but thinner), badder (in a good way) and better (not conceited) than ever before. That’s right I’ve got it all figured out.
If you think I’m getting a little excited about the arrival of 2010? I am. But, I seem to get more excited with every birthday, anniversary and new experience. Probably because most of the things we celebrate are on a yearly basis. So, in essence, we have the opportunity to have a New Year’s Eve”experience” quite often.
From a 12 month perspective, January 1st doesn’t have to be when I implement any steps toward making me a better person. I mean, my birthday is celebrated on the day I was born so I’m thinking that I can celebrate any idea on the day it was born as well. Make sense?
In addition, I’m giving myself permission to make mistakes, tweak my plan as I go along and scrap any process that proves counterproductive. That’s right – I have all the drive and motivation, I just don’t choose to add all of the unnecessary stress. I don’t want to be mad at myself if/when I fall a little short of my goal. And, I promise to show you the same leniency going forward as well.
OK, that’s it! My New Year’s resolutions simplified into 1) don’t wait until January 1st to make a resolution and 2) cut the human race some slack.
I pray that you have enjoyed your 2009 and that you are as excited about 2010 as I am.
Continue to be safe ~ Happy New Years!!!

You are so right, giving ourselves room to change our minds and make mistakes goes along way to contentment. Well, at least for me.

Hi, Lisa –
Absolutely. Life is so much easier when we allow it to be? Wisdom is by far the best part of getting older.
